Amelia Hart – Mural Project
A few weeks ago, Rodings Primary were extremely lucky to secure a mural project with local artist Amelia Hart. Amelia is currently studying at The London International School of Muralism and she has been designing small and large-scale murals across the country.
Amelia introduced herself and her work during an assembly last half term. She worked with a group of 10 students over a number of weeks to generate ideas and designs for the final piece. Every child in the school had a vote and the winning design was then transferred onto the pool house wall. As the mural came to life it was wonderful to see the children and the wider community chatting to Amelia throughout the process. Everyday new patterns and images appeared and despite the rainy weather the mural emerged, bringing excitement to the school playground. The mural was completed just before the Easter holidays and took a total of 35 hours. We are sure you will agree it adds colour and vibrancy to our surroundings. Amelia has been super busy on many other projects but we welcomed her back today to celebrate all her hard work and dedication.
Rodings would like to extend our thanks to Amelia and we look forward to working with her again in the future.
Mrs Coates - Reynolds
Thank you to Mrs Coates - Reynolds for organizing this amazing project and for bringing such an amazing piece of art to our school. It has made a significant difference to our school.
If you have been inspired by this project and have a love of or interest in creativity, you might be interested in the Brentwood Art Trail. Amelia is running a free workshop and Mrs Coates-Reynolds is displaying work from some of her workshops. There are lots of other free events going on as well. Learning Mentors and School Counselling
Over the years, many children have benefitted from our specially trained Learning Mentors and counselling provided from Marie at Three Oaks Counselling. The support they have received has really made a difference to their wellbeing and progress in school. We are currently experiencing a very high demand for these services and currently have a waiting list for both. This means that children may not be able to access this as quickly as we would like.
If you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing or confidence, still approach the class teacher, but there may be a longer wait than normal.
Attendance update
We have carried out our half termly reviewing of attendance this week. Overall, attendance has improved as the weather has got better. Notification letters have been sent to parents where attendance and punctuality is causing concern.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
