From the desk of Mr Crawley

Welcome back! I hope that you all had a really lovely Easter and managed to spend time with your loved ones and enjoyed the sun.

It's been a busy start back, with all the children starting their new units of work. This term is our CREATE led topics, which means that all topic work is led by the Arts. We have some great topics and project coming up which you will get to hear about. We have some really exciting plans for this term which are looking forward to sharing with you as the term progresses.

As you will be aware I have taken up the role of Acting Headteacher at Rodings for this term, whilst Mr Raraty is off supporting another local school. I know you will all join me in wishing him a happy and successful summer term at Flitch Green. Business will continue as normal at Rodings, so should you need to contact me then please do so, either via my email or via the school office.

We are really sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Curtis next week as she starts an exciting new chapter in her life, working as a care nurse. Anyone who has met her will know how lovely and caring Mrs Curtis is, and will be equally fantastic in her new job. Mrs Curtis has worked at Rodings for 21 years and has had such a positive impact on the lives of many children who have gone through the school, and will be missed by children and staff alike. I'm sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Curtis the very best in her new, exciting job.

All that remains is to wish you a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.

Afternoon Pick-up

Hi all, now that the weather has taken a turn for the better, you may have noticed that the children are using the field, during the school day.

Therefore, we will only be letting the School Buses in from 2.45 until the field is clear of children, we will then open the gates.

On Thursdays, we will not be opening the gates to anyone until the coach has returned from swimming.

Please do not park in front of  the school gates, as we need to keep them clear at all times.

It would also be appreciated if you could keep moving down the lanes so that we can get as many of you as possible into the car park, we are doing our best at getting you on your way as quickly and as safely as possible.

As always thank you for your cooperation in helping us to keep your children safe.

Mr Clements

🍿🎬Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket to film club, we hope the children enjoyed it. We raised a fantastic £302.86. Thank you so much for your ongoing support and a big thank you to the Rodings team who helped with the event. 🎬🍿

From the Friends

Over the Easter holiday Jessica decided she would like the village (High Roding) to take part in growing sunflowers to show support to Ukraine in these tragic times. She proceeded to bag up 200 sachets of soil containing sunflower seeds, and then made little hama bead Ukrainian flag tags which she enveloped along with a personal letter containing a just giving link to UNICEF.

On Easter Saturday, with the support of her younger brothers (accompanied by mum and dad!), she then posted them to every house in the village. She set on her Just Giving page what they thought at the time was an ambitious target of £100 hoping that some people may donate £1/, she has however had an overwhelming response from the village and has in fact raised to date an incredible £725 as a result of her efforts!

If you wish to contribute to this and support Jessica's efforts then you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/highrodinggrowasunflower

We are very proud of Isla passing her Grade 1 ballet exam with a distinction. She worked so hard, with lots of extra weekend practises. Her hard work and determination really paid off! Well done Isla xx

Well done Isla - we are so proud of you as well :-)
