Report from the Governing Board for July 2022
The board of governors met for the last time this academic year on Monday 11th July. We are delighted to welcome two new governors to our team – Oli Budiño as a co-opted governor and Claire Stockman as a parent governor. We all look forward to working together and know that both new governors will bring lots of energy, experience and new ideas to our board.
Mr Crawley updated us on the pupil numbers and staff allocation for September and we recognise that space around the school will be tighter than ever next year. The school leadership team are working on ways to reduce congestion at lunchtime, to manage assemblies and to ensure that drop off and pick up times remain safe and efficient. Thank you in advance for bearing with us!
On a less positive note, governors reviewed the attendance for the summer term and were disappointed to see how many pupils have requested or taken unauthorised time off for holidays during term time. Any time missed at school will have an impact on a pupil’s success and fulfilment in school life and we will be keeping a close eye on this data in the autumn term.
After discussing the updated School Development Plan for this year, we considered future strategic plans for our school and we all look forward to another exciting year from September.
Governors received updates on Safeguarding and Wellbeing, Special Educational Needs, Finance and Partnership working. We’d like to thank all staff in school who keep us updated, providing us with the information we need to undertake our governor roles and of course a huge thank you for working so hard to ensure all pupils, staff and parents are happy and safe and can thrive in such a fun and positive environment.
As we approach the school holidays, we hope that everyone will be able to take time to relax and refresh and to enjoy some fun times with families and friends. Thank you to all our parents for your continued support of our school and especially the Friends committee for their enthusiastic and amazing fundraising activities. The funds raised contribute to so many aspects of school life and all of our children will benefit from all of these things for many years to come.
Thank you to all our pupils for your exceptional enthusiasm and energy and especially to those who are leaving our Rodings family next week. We hope that you enjoy your last few days at Rodings, make more special memories and are looking forward to your new adventures. We are proud of what you have achieved.
On behalf of all the governors, we wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.
