Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we hear the sad news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, as a school we have some exciting news to announce regarding some members of staff.
I am delighted to announce that Miss Raban is expecting a baby in January. This is really lovely news, and we are very excited for Miss Raban and her husband. Miss Raban is currently planning to go on maternity leave at Christmas. We will make sure that there is a smooth transition to a new teacher whist Miss Raban is on maternity leave.
Mrs B
In more baby news, Friday 16th September will be Mrs B's last day before she goes on maternity leave. We wish her all the best as the due date approaches. Mrs Jinkerson will be covering Mrs B's SENCo role whilst she is on maternity leave. Mrs B and Mrs Jinkerson will be in contact with our SEND families soon so that you have an opportunity to meet Mrs Jinkerson and put a name to a face.
This morning we held a special assembly to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. We talked about her reign but also her likes and interests and light a candle in her memory. There was a spontaneous round of applause, started by the children, when she 'jumped' out of the helicopter at the 2012 Olympics, which was a very moving moment and brought a tear to the eyes of the staff.
We talked about the serious side of her role but also that she had a good sense of humour and we watched the following clips to witness this.

The children sat beautifully throughout the assembly and showed a huge amount of respect and compassion.

Finally, we have had a great start to the beginning of the new academic year. The children look smart, they have settled well with their new teachers and there is an excited buzz around the building. Long, may this continue!
Have a peaceful and restful weekend!
