Strike Action by NEU members - Wednesday 1st February
As you will be aware members of the teachers union NEU have voted to carry out a series of strikes across February and March. The first of these dates is Wednesday 1st February. Industrial action entails a lot of legal process and the Department for Education and the NEU are still issuing various guidelines. However, I want to give you as much notice as possible.
Our intention is to remain open on Wednesday 1st February. However, be aware that I will not know who is striking until the morning of the industrial action, consequently, we have taken the decision that we will be providing supervised childcare activities that day and not formal lessons.
This may include:
-
Children being supervised by a member of support staff that is not familiar to them
-
Activities that do not relate to their current learning
-
Different age children being mixed together
We will ensure that all safeguarding and health and safety regulations are maintained.
It is possible that any further guidance received from the DfE or NEU may impact the plans we have put in place. I will let you know as soon as possible, if this is the case, and we have to make changes.
Thank you for your understanding!
Active Essex and Ride London Grant
We have been successful in securing a grant from Active Essex and Ride London to provide a cycle shelter in the school grounds. This will provide secure storage for bikes when the children take part in their Bikeability programme. However, we would encourage both children and parents to use it as a way to travel to school and reduce the number of cars that are on the road. We hope to have the bike shelter installed by the end of Spring.
SEND Coffee Morning
It was lovely to meet up yesterday with some of our parents that have children with additional needs. This was an opportunity to meet informally, share any advice, concerns and just offload. There will be three more coffee mornings this year. They are:
Thursday 9th March
Thursday 4th May
Thursday 29th June
Have a lovely weekend!
