Ofsted Report
I’m delighted to be able to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection. The main headlines are:
‘Rodings Primary School continues to be a good school.’
‘Pupils are very proud of their school.’
‘Pupils’ good behaviour in the classroom and on the playground is notable.’
‘Pupils respond well to teachers’ high expectations for learning.’
‘In almost all subjects, leaders have designed an ambitious curriculum.’
SEND ‘ Where pupils need extra help to meet their specific targets, this is provided. This helps pupils with SEND to make strong progress.’
‘Pupils’ wider development is provided for well. Pupils are kind to each other and accepting of differences’
Once area for development was identified:
‘Important knowledge and skills in transcription and grammar have been identified by leaders, but this is not clearly set out. Teaching does not support pupils to develop this knowledge as well as they should, which affects the quality of their written work in English and in other subjects. Leaders should focus on ensuring that teaching gives pupils the knowledge they need to correctly transcribe and punctuate their written work so that it is of a consistently high quality.’
We are delighted with the outcomes of the report. We feel it is a true reflection of the school and the inspector has captured the essence of what Rodings is all about.
Be reassured that we won’t be resting on our laurels and we will start work straight away to make Rodings even better.
Thank you to the staff who regularly go above and beyond to make Rodings a special place to work and learn. To our governors for their constructive challenge and support. Thank you parents for your continued support and engagement with your children’s learning. Finally, to the children, you make us laugh and pull our hair out in equal measure.
A copy of the Report will be emailed to you. Alternatively, you can access it via the school Website.

In a bittersweet announcement, I am sad to say that Mr Wright will be leaving us this July. He has secured a promotion as an Assistant Headteacher at a school in Chelmsford. I am delighted for Mr Wright as he has been working hard to achieve promotion. However, I am gutted to be losing an integral part of the Rodings team.
Parking
Sadly, following our very successful sports day, I received several complaints from local residents from Holloway Crescent. Due to the parking of some visitors to school the council dustcart was unable to access Holloway Crescent consequently households in the street didn’t have their rubbish collected. As you can imagine, this has created quite a lot of upset in the crescent and has led to complaints being filed with the police and the local councillor.
I would like to put out my regular plea to please be considerate when parking for collection at the end of the day or for a special event. If you are able to car share, use school transport or walk to school please do.
There is no easy solution to the parking problem, although I will continue to work with local organisations to try and come up with some easing measures.
Have a great week!
Mr Raraty
