From the Desk of Mr Raraty

I am really pleased to announce that the new toilet block and the extension to the playground has been completed. The children are enjoying both facilities, which are helping to make play and lunchtime safer and more enjoyable. We have also had a bouldering wall installed, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of Rodings. We are just waiting for the sign-off for the children to start using it.

These new additions to the school are just the beginning of the plans that we have for the school for 2023/2024. As the new year starts, I want to share other developments we hope to achieve in 2024.

Some of our aims include:

  • To provide more opportunities for creative and imaginative play at lunchtimes
  • To continue to enrich the curriculum and after-school activities
  • To promote the arts to provide cultural learning opportunities
  • To continue to improve our provision for children with additional needs and the more able
  • To find a way to create some much-needed additional space
  • To make sure that the teaching and learning at Rodings is the best it can be

We will provide you with more details about how we are going to approach this in the near future, but I hope that we will have your continued support and engagement as we continue the exciting development of the school.

Toast Week

Toast week is back! This is one of my favourite events of the year, purely because it makes the school smell wonderful. For one week, the children will be able to purchase a slice of toast to eat at break time. Any money raised will go to charity. Toast costs £2 for the week and can be paid for through the Arbor shop. All dietary needs will be catered for.

Have a Lovely weekend!

Mr Raraty

Firstly I would like to say how much I have enjoyed my first few months working at the Rodings, and being part of the school community. It really is an awesome school.

And thank you for your ongoing patience and cooperation at our busiest times of drop off /collection.

I have approached Essex Highways, and they have agreed to incorporate "Keep Clear" markings at the school entrance in their current funding. I'm hopeful that this will help with the situation.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind everyone that the "Kiss and Drop" lane / area is for quick drop off/alighting. If you are understandably planning to walk your child / children to the door, can you please find alternative parking so as to
allow as smooth as possible operation for everyone else using this facility. If you do have any issues / suggestions then please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you.

This week at Forest School...????

This week at Forest School we had a New Years Crumpet party ! It was a beautiful and sunny but very chilly winter morning so we kept ourselves moving,  running around and practising our tree climbing skills.  The crumpets and warm apple juice also helped to keep us warm! Some of us also had a go at using the flint and steels to practise our firelighting skills! This is a tricky thing to learn but I was so impressed with how the Goslings kept on trying and didn't give up!

Dexter baked and decorated a Christmas cake. At the first session back at cubs for the new year he was awarded a runner up prize for his decorative efforts.

He's absolutely loving making new friends and learning new things at cubs.

Well done Dexter, what a fabulous Christmas cake.  We are so proud of you :-)
