So today marks the end of an era. After eight years at Rodings, Mr Crawley will be leaving us to take up his new post as Headteacher at Heathlands Primary.

Mr Crawley has been a massive part of Rodings from day one and has brought huge amounts of enthusiasm, dedication and hard work.  He has led so many projects from refurbishing the library, introducing the radio station, writing our curriculum and developing staff through his teaching and learning research.  The impact he has had on the school is immeasurable.

Today, to help him be the best Headteacher he can be, the children presented him with a book full of spells to help with his new job (Mr Crawley is a big Harry Potter fan). This included a lining up spell, one to make children listen and another for good handwriting.  The children have written and decorated some brilliant pieces.

It has been an absolute pleasure to have Mr Crawley as my Deputy over the last eight years. He will make a marvellous Headteacher and everyone at Rodings wishes him the best in his new job. Heathlands are very lucky to have you!

We met on Monday evening for our final Full Governing Body (FGB) meeting of 2024, and we welcomed Sally, a new co-opted governor, to the governing board.

As part of the preparations for the government's upcoming curriculum review, Mr. Raraty shared some exciting plans to bring more creativity into the children's learning. Additionally, Rodings Primary School has developed an in-house Teaching & Learning strategy focused on developing new skills and supporting ongoing professional development for our teachers.

We also took the time to review and approve a number of updated policies, with a key discussion around the Online Safety Policy. The safety of our students, both inside and outside of school, remains a priority for us. For anyone interested, all Roding Primary School policies are available on our website.

Lastly, we said a sad but fond farewell to Mr. Crawley as he moves on to new opportunities. We are incredibly grateful for the support he has given to the school, the teachers, and the children. We wish him all the best and much success in the future.

This week at Forest School ...

Things were getting a bit festive in the forest this week.  Goslings helped decorate our fire circle with garlands of greenery, pinecones and pomanders, and Sparrows made tiny Christmas trees and hammered stars to make decorations for our forest tree.
